Held in Chicago’s Grant Park between the dates of August 6 – 8th, Lollapalooza was created in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction front man Perry Farrell. Originally conceived as a farewell tour for Jane’s Addiction, Lollapalooza quickly became the defining musical and cultural event of the Alternative Rock movement in the 1990’s. Lollapalooza quickly established itself as a lifestyle festival, pushing the envelope and exposing concertgoers to a subculture of “alternative” living and art, while providing a platform for numerous human rights and environmental causes. Today, as one of the largest music festivals in the world, h2O helps to continue that “alternative” mission. Refreshing Ideas President Julie Atherton commented, “We are ecstatic to be recognized by such a fun and prestigious music festival and are thrilled to be a part of the greening of Lollapalooza.” h2O allows the festival to drastically reduce the use of plastic bottles and provide attendees an alternative with its BPA free, 100% recyclable bottle. Clean Event is handling the waste and recycling of h2O cartons, with Waste Management supporting their efforts with equipment, trucks and recycling facilities.
Originally conceived by dedicated mother of three Julie Atherton, h2O was born with the idea to become the first company in the US to package water in recyclable premium paper. h2O is Kosher and federal government certified “natural spring water”, micron filtered & ozonated, allergen free and conforms to CFIA, FDA & EPA requirements for bottled water. Winner of the Presidential Award For Sustainability, h2O comes in an earth-friendly aseptic package made mainly of paper, which is a renewable and sustainable resource. All of the paper used for packaging comes from responsibly managed forests that continuously grow new trees to replace the harvested ones.
