XLRI Jamshedpur on August 8 formally announced the XAT 2013 examination. XLRI has already confirmed the date of the exam, January 6, 2013, to MBAUniverse.com. The Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI) conducts the test.
Registration: The registration process will begin from August 20 and continue till November 30, 2012. The registration fee is Rs 950 for general category candidates. One can either register online by visiting www.xatonline.net.in or through cash payment in IDBI Bank branches.
Test centers: XAT 2013 will be conducted across 40 cities across India. This year, three international centers have also been added, which are Dhaka, Dubai and Kathmandu.
Last year, the examination was held in 38 centers across India.
B-schools to accept XAT 2013 scores: XLRI has said like previous years, XAT scores would be accepted by over 100 B-schools. XAT 2012 scores were accepted by 101 B-schools. Some of the noted B-schools which will accept the XAT 2013 scores include LIBA Chennai, XIME Bengaluru, Xavier Institute of Management, Jabalpur, XISS Ranchi and XIMR Mumbai.
The complete list of B-schools will be declared on August 20, the day when the application process starts.
XAT Pattern: XAT is a test of high difficulty level. The number of questions is generally around 100. XAT 2012 saw 85 questions. It is a paper pencil based test of 2 hours and 20 minutes duration. The sections on the basis of which the candidates are tested are Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, English Language Ability & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making and Essay Writing. The last 20 minutes of the exam is for Essay Writing.
