Some of the very big names in the banking establishment of the Britain are among the potential candidates who may be replacing Bob Diamond as chief executive of the Barclays. There is a lot of speculation over the issue that who will be replacing Bob Diamond on the post of chief executive of Barclays.
The whole process of finding out a successor is very much on on a fast pace. Barclays currently is in talks with the external head hunters which are used for placements of the senior executive so that they can gain advice on finding a replacement which can be done as soon as possible.

Marcus Agius, who has resigned as the chairman of Barclays on last Monday was made the executive chairman a day after Diamond had resigned from his post. This thing also gave a support to the search that was on.
Agius had to say that he will be looking at internal as well as external candidates but now the expectations are grown on quite a high level that the bank might look outside their own ranks so that no concern can be paid from the past on matter that had happened earlier.

Another leading external contender for this post who is been thought upon is Richard Meddings, who is the finance director of Standard Chartered, which is an emerging markets-focused bank.
