Market Press Release – October 7, 2011 11:26 am – Four years have passed since we were introduced to the very first iPhone from Apple. In that time the public have fallen in love with these handsets thanks to their modern looks, excellent interface and incorporation of the excellent iPod feature. On Tuesday the 4th of October 2011 it is expected that Apple will announce the release of the iPhone 5, the very latest addition to this range of popular models. Here we take a brief look at the history of the iPhone along with what we may expect to see featured on this new model.
January 2007 was when the very first iPhone was unveiled. In June that year the US saw the release of this model whilst consumers in the UK had to wait until November. Millions of the phones were produced however their were many consumers who queued through the night so that they could be the very first to get their hands on this model. In the UK cellular network O2 gained exclusivity for the sale of this device. 18 months passed before we were treated to the second generation iPhone. The 3G model offered many improvements overs its predecessor, namely support of ultra fast 3G cellular data networks and a redesign of the phones body. Roughly one year later the 3GS was announced, a phone that offered improved operation speed along with a host of other features that the public wanted to see featured. These changes included the ability to capture video footage and the incorporation of cut and paste technology. Design wise there was no change in the phones overall look. Perhaps the biggest single change in the iPhone happened in 2010 when the best selling iPhone 4 was released. This model was a major step forward and featured a unique all glass design together with high definition video capture and a 1Ghz processor.

Very soon we will know the exact specification of the forthcoming iPhone 5. There are one or two things that we can be very certain to see feature on this model. A jump in screen size is very likely considering some of Apples main competitors are releasing models with screens around 5 inches. Although we will not see a display quite this large it is certain that there will be an increase from the 3.5 inch screen that has been offered on previous models. We are also likely to see much faster performance times on the model as Apple will look to incorporate their lightning fast A5 chipset on the phone. This dual core technology was first featured on the iPad 2 and will definitely find its way into the new iPhone. The internet is flooded with hundreds of rumours about this new phone but some of the more likely features to be included are improved voice control, 1080P high definition video capture and improvements to the Facetime video calling feature.
