Market Press Release – February 2, 2012 12:28 pm – New Delhi, 2nd February, 2011: Salwan Media is hosting South Asia’s first knowledge conference, One Globe 2012- Uniting Knowledge Communities, in partnership with US India Business Council (USIBC), UK India Business Council, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), YES BANK, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), International Herald Tribune (the global edition of The New York Times) and India Knowledge@Wharton. The two day event will be held on 3-4 February, 2011 in New Delhi, and will present a fast-paced interactive platform featuring views of more than 70 stalwarts from government, industry and the academia to deliberate on opportunities and challenges in building the 21st century knowledge economy.
The keynote address will be delivered by Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for HRD & Communications and Information Technology, Government of India. A joint report by USIBC and YES BANK titled ‘A Global Perspective to Higher Education in India’ will also be unveiled at the conference. Sam Pitroda, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations will be part of a special session on innovation and inclusive growth. Lt. Gen. A.S. Lamba, Vice Chief of the Army Staff (Retd), The Indian Army will share his views on role and importance of security in building knowledge communities. SEBI’s former chairman, M. Damodaran, will speak on role of healthcare in economic development.
The ‘One Globe’ knowledge conference promises to be a confluence of educators, government officials, investors, policy makers, entrepreneurs, universities, NGO’s, and students. Other renowned global thought leaders at the event include: Shantanu Prakash, Chairman and Managing Director, Educomp Solutions Limited; Lokesh Mehra, Director- Education Advocacy, Microsoft Corporation India; Stephan Thieringer, President & CEO, AcrossWorld Education; Jerry Hultin, President of Poly-NYU (former undersecretary of US Navy for President Clinton); Dhiraj Mathur, Executive Director & National Leader of the Education Practice, PricewaterhouseCoopers Pvt. The conference will also have representation from delegates of 11 foreign universities that Institute of International Education (IIE) is bringing to India from the US for the US-India Higher Education partnership.

As many as 18 interactive sessions during the conference will comprehensively cover topics including technology and innovation, human capital, skill development, private equity investments in higher education, creation of physical infrastructure and philanthropy among others. Day two of the event will be of particular interest to students interested in studying abroad. Visiting university presidents, deans and faculty from around the world as well as experts who have studied abroad will address every aspect of study abroad ranging from choosing a study abroad destination, courses of study, scholarships, financial aid, application procedures, and visas to help make informed decisions.
