Market Press Release – October 9, 2011 10:52 am – The new White iPhone 4S offers many improvements over its predecessor the iPhone 4. Some of these relate to the hardware such as a dual core processor and an upgraded camera. Many of the enhancements however are software related and one of the most impressive is called Find My Friends.
Find My Friends is a new application that enables you to keep up to date with what your friends are doing. In some respects it is very similar to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter except that it concentrates more on where your friends are currently located rather than what they are posting. With this feature you have a list of friends and all of their locations appear on a map. The user has full control over who can see your information and can choose how long they share their information from. Such a feature may cause concern to some people but on the map screen there is a switch which you can activate which allows you to go offline and not be seen. Because this application works with both your contact list and the phones map facility it can also show you the quickest route to meeting up with your friends. The feature does include lots of privacy restrictions so if you are concerned over who your children can add on this feature you can access the settings which are password encrypted.

A similar feature on the White iPhone 4S is the new Find My Phone application. This service is linked with the new iCloud service which is being introduced as part of the iOS5 operating system. Anybody who has ever lost or misplaced a handset will appreciate this feature as it enables you to remotely track your devices location. As soon as you realise that your handset is missing you can simply sign into iCloud.com and locate your missing piece of hardware on a map. If you do not have access to a laptop you can use another device with the Find My Phone app installed to perform this procedure. So once you have found your device you now need to get the attention of whoever has it or is near to it. You can choose to display a message on screen with instructions on how to return the handset to you or you can opt for an audible alarm to get somebodies attention. Even if your phone is set to silent this still works. Features such as this help ensure that you should always be able to trace the location of your device.
