The Samsung Galaxy Note remains one of the most advanced smartphones on the market, despite increasingly impressive competition. Considered by many as a smartphone/hybrid tablet, there are plenty of high end specs to keep technology enthusiasts happy, while remaining easy to use thanks to the renowned Android OS. In this article I will look at how the Samsung Galaxy Note compares to its new stablemate and Samsung’s new flagship Android phone, the Galaxy S3, by looking at some of their key features.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is well known for some of its features in particular. Among these is the screen, which is considered by many as the best available. This is thanks to the large 5.3 inch size coupled with the stunningly high resolution of 800x 1280. This provides the Galaxy Note with the ability to provide great display quality for multimedia content, which making the touchscreen usage very easy, especially with the included S-Pen. The Galaxy S3 also has a large screen, measuring up at 4.8 inches. This is smaller than the Note, but quite a step up from its predecessor, the Galaxy S2. Also, the resolution is slightly lower, but within the smaller screen dimensions, it is equally impressive in terms of display quality.

The Samsung Galaxy Note was one of the most powerful smartphones available in terms of processing power, until the first quad-core phones from HTC, LG and Huawei were released earlier this year. At 1.4 GHz, its dual-core processor is capable of providing all the computing power to provide great levels of performance. The Samsung Galaxy S3 though, is Samsung’s first quad-core prone, making it one of the most powerful new phones, joining the ranks of only a few other phones with a quad-core processor. of course this means that the interface and apps are lightning fast in their loading and operating times, and multitasking will not reduce performance.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Note and the Samsung Galaxy S3 offer similar cameras in terms of the 8 megapixel resolution, and a package of image enhancing features ranging from LED flash, image stabilisation, auto and touch focus options and face detection. The Galaxy S3 though has several new additions to its camera’s software package. These include a burst shot mode, where the camera takes multiple consecutive shots and then suggests the best one for you to keep. There is also a smart face recognition feature; after tagging a friend on Facebook, the camera will then recognise them and automatically tag them in future shots.

As you can see, while the Samsung Galaxy Note remains a great smartphone, the Galaxy S3 brings several new additions, especially to its camera, making it arguably the most advanced smartphone out there. It is available for pre order now from various UK networks.
