Here we take a look at the rumoured specification of this new model and see how it compares to what the iPhone can offer.
In the power department it looks as though the Samsung Galaxy S3 is set to become the most powerful smartphone available thanks to a dual core 1.8 Ghz processor. This is no great surprise as Samsung always tend to lead the way when it comes to specification in this department. It is also rumoured that a massive 2GB of RAM memory will accompany this processor which should ensure the model performs at speeds more similar to a laptop than a mobile phone. The iPhone 4S is the first mobile phone from Apple to sport dual core technology and the phone certainly does perform at a very fast speed. The ARM Cortex A9 processor is clocked at 1.2Ghz and is joined by 512MB of RAM. The developers at Apple are renowned for optimising their iOS5 operating system to give you the best power management and performance possible. Thanks to this the device actually feels much faster than it should be and it is hard to see exactly how a powerful chip such as the one set to be fitted in the S3 can make a massive improvement to operation speed. In terms of storage capacity both handsets boast 16GB and 32GB versions but the 4S takes things a stage further by also offering a premium 64GB model.

One area where the iPhone and the Galaxy range of models have always excelled is with there screen technology and it looks as though things will be very evenly matched between these two new models. The iPhone 4S uses the same Retina display as was fitted in its predecessor and there is little doubt that this is the highest quality display available on any mobile phone. The 3.5 inch screen is slightly smaller than many rival models but this enables Apple to offer the best pixel density around at a staggering 326 per inch. This is where the name of the display is derived from as it is beyond what the human eye can actually detect. The Galaxy S3 looks set to feature a large 4.6 inch screen that uses the latest Super AMOLED Plus HD screen technology. This type of display is renowned for producing vivid images a great colour depth. With such a large screen it will always be a struggle for the Samsung to match the pixel density that is offered on the Apple and at 319 pixels per inch it looks as though the model will come close to Apple but not actually eclipse them in this area.
Whenever the Samsung Galaxy S3 is released it will undoubtedly become a great success thanks to its high specification and the excellent reputation that the Galaxy range has developed. It is hard to see how it can outshine a phone as good as the iPhone 4S however.
