Market Press Release – October 27, 2011 11:15 pm – The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first mobile handset to come shipped with the latest version of the Android operating system which has been affectionately named the Ice Cream Sandwich. This model also offers a great array of features that look set to make it one of the leading devices released over the coming months. Here we take a look at the design of the phone and also see what screen technology is on offer.
The Galaxy Nexus is not one of the smallest phones available thanks to the large screen that it features. Samsung have stuck to a fairly familiar blueprint with this model and have not strayed far from designs that have been used on previous models. The handset does offer an attractive design with a slightly curved frame that sits nicely against the contours of your face whilst making a call. The back panel of the phone offers a grey patterned finish which not only feels nice when the phone is being used but also does make the phone look very expensive. The camera lens on this model is located centrally on the back panel which makes the phone look very different from the many models that use a camera in the top corner of the back plate. Looking at the front of the handset and the first thing that strikes you is the lack of buttons, there is not even any capacitive keys similar to what can be found on rival models. Turning our attentions to the display on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus it is evident that the phone is very well equipped in this area. A larger than average 4.65 inch screen is used which offers crystal clear images and responsive navigation. This may well be the first model to offer a screen that betters the famous Retina Display produced by Apple. With a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels this is the first mobile that can boast a HD quality screen to match its media features. A 100000:1 contrast ratio ensures that a massive 16 million colours can be accurately displayed on this Super AMOLED display. Multi touch gestures are supported meaning that the screen can register more than one touch at a time and this is perfect for features such as pinch to zoom and a variety of games. The usual sensors are supported by the screen with a proximity sensor performing auto shut off functions and a light sensor adjusting the picture to give you the optimum viewing based on your surroundings.
