Market Press Release – April 2, 2011 7:05 am – The GP14-7 by House of Troy is a clamp lamp (clip-on) that attaches to the music holder on your grand piano. It has a clamp that adjusts from ½” to 1” and fits securely over the top of the music desk, and is tightened by two thumbscrews on the back of the clamp. The clamp is a specially designed clamp that has an inner section that is lined with felt so that it will not scratch or harm your piano. A simple turn of the thumbscrew and the light will be secure.
This lamp has a flexible 8 ½”goose neck that is easy to move and it allows you to position the shade anywhere you would like to put it. You can position the neck so that the shade is in a high position and then turn the shade so that the light shines onto the music. This position gives you more clearance at the top of the sheet music making it easier to turn pages. You can also create a curve in the gooseneck so that the neck part of the lamp is out of the way of the turning pages of music books.
The shade on the GP14-7 is 14” long and holds two incandescent bulbs (incandescent bulbs are the same as bulbs used in the home). You can either use two 40-watt bulbs to give off 80 watts of light, or you can use two 60-watt bulbs for a total of 120 watts of light. This gives you a choice as to whether you want a moderate amount of light, or more wattage for a brighter look. The bulbs used are T10 bulbs. They are about 6” long and thin. You can always find replacements in local hardware stores or even in supermarkets. The shade swivels up and down and side to side, which allows you to shine the light exactly where you need or want it. You can light up just the music, or even the music and the keys. This type of focused light has been proven to increase concentration and reduce eyestrain and the negative effects of straining to see properly.
The on/off switch is located in the cord 3” from the clamp, for easy and convenient access. The best thing to do is to feed the cord either to the side of the piano and then down to an outlet, or extend it through the back on the piano along the inside, and then down to an outlet.
The GP14-7 has an attractive black finish and is also available in a Polished Brass finish (GP14-61). It will not only supply you with a great light source so that you can clearly read your music, but it also adds to the beauty and ambience of your grand piano.
This lamp carries a full two-year manufacturers warranty and is made in Vermont by the House of Troy Lighting Company.
