The camera function is arguably the most important feature on a smartphone for many people when choosing a new handset. The HTC Rhyme comes with a 5 mega pixel unit which operates at 2592x 1944 pixels. It is the pixel count which dictates the levels of detail within a photo, and as you can imagine the camera on the HTC Rhyme provides very high levels of detail and clarity.
The camera on this phone comes with several image enhancing features as standard. One of these is autofocus, which as you can probably work out, automatically focuses the picture to the correct distance for an image to be captured. This is a very convenient feature to have and saves users the task of focusing the photo manually. An LED flash is also included as standard, and found next to their camera lens on the back of the handset. This is obviously a very handy feature to have, as it allows users to overcome the obstacle of low lighting conditions, where they would otherwise not be able to take clear photos.
The camera can also be used to shoot video footage, with settings of up to 720p (high definition) included. Obviously, the latter provides the best quality footage although it also uses the most battery, so if you are running low you can choose a lower setting such as 480p although the quality of the footage will be sacrificed.

There is an additional VGA camera found on the front of the handset, which can be used to take front facing photos and videos, as well as video calls with contacts that have a compatible smartphone.
All of the settings and variations mentioned above can easily be adjusted within the camera interface using the touch screen. This is because the camera’s software is part of the HTC Sense UI, which is the manufacturer’s custom Android interface and provides many powerful, innovative and easy to use features and particularly lends itself to the camera function of the handset.
Once you have taken your photos and videos, they will automatically be stored within the 4 GB of on board storage, or if this is full, the micro SD slot which houses an 8 GB memory card. As an added bonus, this can be replaced with a card of up to 32 GB, so storage should not be an issue.
As you can see, the HTC Rhyme is well equipped as a camera phone. Whilst there are smartphones available with higher resolution cameras, the one found on the HTC Rhyme is likely to satisfy the needs of the vast majority of users.
