Market Press Release – June 30, 2011 5:28 pm – The new HTC Sensation is the manufacturer’s latest flagship smartphone, whilst the jewel in the LG crown is the new LG Optimus 3D. Both of these smartphones are packed with powerful features, and in this article I will offer a comparison of some of the key features of each handset.
Processor
Each of the handsets boasts dual-core processors, the new generation of processor technology in smartphones. The HTC Sensation offers a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, whilst that of the LG Optimus 3D is slightly less powerful at 1 GHz. The advantages of dual-core processors are numerous; more efficient multitasking, improved response times from touchscreens, faster loading times of web pages and a general increase in performance are just some of the benefits of this technology. Using these phones, you will notice the improvements over conventional smartphones straight away.
Camera
As you may expect from any new Smartphone, both there HTC sensation and LG Optimus 3D come with built in digital cameras. The HTC Sensation packs an 8 mega pixel offering which is capable of shooting high definition video in both 720p and 1080p quality. Numerous image enhancing features are also included as part of the camera’s software package, and users are able to wirelessly stream their photos and videos directly to a compatible television. The LG Optimus 3D offers something a little different in the camera department. Although only 5 mega pixels, it boasts the ability to shoot 3D footage as the name of the handset suggests. Therefore, the handset joins the ranks of only a couple of other Smartphones which are able to carry out this function. Overall, both handsets offer superb digital cameras, but it is the LG Optimus 3D which can do something the HTC Sensation cannot. Choosing between the two based on the camera essentially comes down to one question; would you prefer a camera which can shoot 3D footage or one which can shoot higher definition footage?

Internal Storage
Any smartphone could not function to its full potential if it did not have adequate internal storage for users to store files such as music tracks, videos clips, photos and downloaded apps. Both handset come with built in storage; the HTC Sensation with 1 GB and the LG Optimus 3D with 8 GB. Both also have built in microSD slots, and the HTC Sensation has a pre-installed card to get things going. Because of this, the HTC Sensation actually has more available storage right out of the box. By utilising the microSD slot on either handset, users can install a card of up to 32 GB, which is a relatively inexpensive means of gaining plenty of additional storage.
As you can see, both handsets are pretty evenly matched in terms of general specifications. Both run Android 2.3 as the operating system of choice, so essentially, choosing between the two might be a decision based on preference for either brand, or how what is more important between a higher resolution camera or one which can shoot 3D footage.
