Summer is the most longed for season especially in the northern hemisphere where after our wintry weather days a burst of sun is most welcome. While the sun has many healing and uplifting benefits, vitamin D and the lot, it does take its toll on the hair. Sun, sea and sand holidays does mean your hair will be exposed to the elements and can take some beating.
Some of the best ways to protect hair in sea water is by using hair oil. Agreed that might not go with the plan to look like the poolside glamazon, but the slick back look with a pair of great shades can actually be a rather fashionable look!
These days there are hundreds of hair care products, whether organic, natural or regular. There are some for styling, some for protecting, mousses, serums, gels and the lot. Hair oils although used commonly in the East are now making a mark in the West. The good thing about oil as a protector is that it really does protect. It helps strengthen the hair shaft and protect from the sun, chlorine and the sea. In a way it almost builds a protective layer over each hair and will help prevent breakage and split ends. Hair needs care, while so many natural beauty products out there may claim plenty of benefits they come with a hefty price tag too. So perhaps simple measures and simple remedies can actually go a long way and a dash of sweet almond oil on the dry ends of your hair may work just as well if not better.
So what about your skin, well there are probably a million skin products out there and for the sun you should wear sun protecting moisturiser or creams. You can always top this with coconut oil to help lock in the moisture and protect your skin from drying out.
Organic herbal remedies and supplements can work to towards maintaining healthy hair and skin from the inside. For the hair Biotin is considered a helpful vitamin and most hair supplements and remedies will contain this B vitamin. Also beneficial for the hair is Avocado oil, rich in vitamin E it also works wonderfully well as a natural hair mask.
Butter hair balms also work wonders to help rejuvenate tired hair and they keep the ends nice and glossy. Of course a healthy diet and lifestyle can only help further to maintain healthier hair and skin.
