As the name suggests, it offers 3D functionality in the form of its touchscreen and camera. In this article I will take a closer look at the HTC Evo 3D and its key features so you can decide if it’s the right smartphone for you.
Screen
As mentioned, the screen is one of the aspects of this phone which offers 3D functionality. It allows various 3D media to be displayed at what the eye perceives as a 3D image by the human eye. It does this by essentially displaying two separate images at the same time, at different layers. The 3D LCD capacitive touchscreen measures 4.3 inches, and has an impressive resolution of 540x 960, which is beaten only by the likes of the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Camera
The camera also offers 3D functionality, and works on a similar principal as the screen. To capture 3D photos and videos, it captures images at two different distances, and these are then displayed at the same time when they are played back creating the illusion of a 3D image. The camera is 5 megapixels, so when you choose to take 2D pictures, the pictures are of very good quality (3D can only be used at 2 megapixels). The same can be said of videos, with 720p capture at 30 frames per second in both 2D and 3D formats. The camera comes with everything you would expect from any other smartphone, such as autofocus and dual-LED flash.
Aside from the 3D technology, the HTC Evo 3D has a lot to offer. It has a spec list which incorporates many features you will find in many other high end smartphones. It runs the latest version of Android (v2.3) with the new version of HTC Sense (HTC’s custom Android interface) over the top. Alongside its powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, a great user experience is assured. Thanks to downloadable apps from the Android Market, the sky is the limit in terms of the versatility and functionality of the handset. 3D technology is sure to become a mainstay in new smartphones before long. The HTC Evo 3D provides a great showcase for this technology.
