The handset has one of the most impressive spec lists of any smartphone released over the last few months and in this article I will take a closer look at some of its key features.
Screen
The Samsung Galaxy Note is something of a hybrid between a smartphone and a tablet, which is made immediately apparent by its large touchscreen. At 5.3 inches, it is smaller than the average tablet but bigger than most smartphones. The Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen boasts a pixel resolution of 800x 1280, which even taking into consideration the size of the screen, is even higher than the retina display on the iPhone 4S. The screen also supports stylus pen functionality, and has handwriting recognition making it easy to write on the go.

Camera
Whether you are choosing a new smartphone or a new tablet, the camera is undoubtedly an important part of the decision. The Samsung Galaxy Note is unlikely to disappoint in this respect, with an 8 megapixel unit on hand to capture high quality still images thanks to its resolution of 3264x 2448. With all this impressive hardware included, the Samsung Galaxy Note would be next to useless without a powerful processor. Luckily, there is a dual-core 1.4 GHz processor under the hood which makes it one of the most powerful available. To put it into perspective, the HTC Sensation XE is the most powerful smartphone in the world in terms of processing power thanks to its 1.5 GHz processor. Therefore it is only marginally more powerful than the Galaxy Note.
The above hardware all runs on the Android Gingerbread OS, although it has been confirmed that it supports the new Ice Cream Sandwich version of the popular platform. The Samsung Galaxy Note has the credentials to appeal to everyone from business users to multimedia users to social networking enthusiasts. This surely explains why it has proven so popular, and its popularity looks set to continue for some time.
