In this article I will take a look at a couple of the popular free apps in the Music category.
Just Dance 3 Autodance
Based on the popular Xbox game, Just Dance is a popular free application which is simple to use and very entertaining. To use it, you simply use the 8 MP camera on the iPhone 4S to film a friend or family member doing any task, and the app will automatically sync their movements to a selection of dance music tracks to make it look like they are dancing, even when they are not.

Spotify
Spotify is a free music streaming service which has steadily gained in popularity over the last few years. It is now available and an iPhone app which allows users to choose from millions of tracks to play. You simply search the app for the song/album/artist you want, and it will connect to a database over the iPhone 4S’ internet connection, displaying a list of results. You can then play these tracks through the handset’s speakers or the Apple headset supplied with the phone. Because you are streaming music, it does not use up the storage space of the phone, so you essentially have millions of tracks at your fingertips. In order to make the service free, there are occasionally adverts played between songs. However, there is also a premium service available for a monthly charge, which has no adverts, unlimited streaming, and even offline streaming which allows you to store a certain amount of tracks on the phone which can still be played without an internet connection.
Shazam
Picture the scene; you are in a bar or shop and you hear a track that you like being played, or maybe it is a track you know but you are unsure of the artist or title. This is where Shazam comes in handy. Simply activate the app and hold you phone near the speaker, and it will search a database to find a match. You will then be presented with the details of the track such as title, artist, album etc, and have the options to share it via social networking sites like Facebook, or download it via iTunes. The free version of the app has a limited number of monthly uses, but there is a paid version which requires a small one-off payment, and allows unlimited searches.
