Market Press Release – October 8, 2009 2:34 am – Press Release: Los Angeles, August 8, 2009 - Lanyardstore.com has announced its new, generous program to give away a million lanyards over the next 18 months. Donations of ID-holder neck lanyards will be made to ministries, public schools, youth camps and other not-for-profit organizations that serve their communities.
Last year, Lanyardstore had sales of over 8 million in printed lanyards. However, co-owner David Lee says that up to 10% of each run gets wasted because of overruns and misprints. They are therefore left with excess lanyards.
Lanyards are hanging neck straps with attachments that hold a variety of things. Lanyardstore also makes a variety of other promotional products such as neck wallets, key holders and even school supplies. “But overall, lanyards are one of the most productive donations for charities, because of their usefulness at functions such as fundraisers,” says Lee.
“I began importing and screen printing lanyards in my garage in 1994, to bring in business for my father-in-law’s lanyard factory in China. He had just bought it and introduced me to the business. Soon, we began to get large orders from trade shows, school lanyards, and conventions, so I decided to get a warehouse for lanyard printing. We now have 25 employees and in addition to personalized lanyards, we sell custom printed retractable badge reels, neck wallets, custom printed badge holders and custom shoelaces.”
In 1999 the Lanyardstore began selling lanyards to retail customers online. The website www.lanyardstore.com was formed soon after to sell lanyards and other custom printed ID badge holders.
The idea to donate excess lanyards came from Lee’s belief that companies shouldn’t throw out perfectly good supplies when there are people out there who could put them to good use. They therefore came up with this plan to donate one million lanyards to worthy causes, over a period of 18 months.
Beneficiaries of this printed lanyard donation program include schools, churches, charities; and animal shelters which will be receiving 100,000 custom dog collars and pet collars over the winter. “Bringing good rapport during these hard times is well worth the effort. It should also eventually bring us more business.”
