India: Today India is the rising economy of the world. World looks at India as the rising supremacy of the globe. There are people talking about the success of Indian corporate society, but there are very few people who talk about the darker side of this shining nation. Even today the literacy rate of India lies much below than other developing countries. The literacy rate is somewhat better in urban sector of India but in villages its worse. Real India resides in villages, where the education system is in a very poor state. Children are not provided with proper education institutes.

Steps taken by the government

The steps taken by Indian government sounds good on paper but the applications seems to be far apart from the plans. Under its rural development plan government decided to set up rural schools. These schools didn’t prove to be very successful as they failed to work on the served guidelines.

Getting their funds from donation India, they invite all interested hands i.e. companies, groups and individuals to help them in their social work. The government govern the educational institute, but its policies don’t help the rural society to get benefit from it. So to improve the educational condition of India, role of NGOs is very essential to take education to the poorest in the country.

How NGO help?

Seeing the condition of the villages, many NGO groups took the responsibility of educating the rural India. Government supported many of these NGOs as they were giving positive results. Efficient efforts of NGO India helped the rural schools to light the lamp of education in every house. Taking up the target of making India literate, NGOs have worked very well. Raising their funds from donations and also contributions from government, they are running successfully and are meeting their goals. The job of these NGOs is no easy in rural India where people do not look at education as contribution to life.

The common thinking of rural people is to get their children involve in earning jobs, depriving their kids from school life. So simply setting up schools doesn’t complete the job, getting students for that school is the actual thing which requires effort. These efforts will someday surely bear fruits and the dream of literate India will come true. The other problem faced by the NGOs is of funds. The NGOs run completely on the money raised through donations. The interested corporate groups and individuals go through the project of NGOs and then accordingly make their contribution in it. Sometimes some projects are also government supported. In projects undertaken for a social cause, government sometimes also provide amount through its any particular department.

NGOs undertaking the education project are like providing a helping hand to the government for the rural development. The government’s rural education schemes never proved out to be a very efficient one. It’s basically the NGOs that are doing this great job and making rural India literate.
