The MAT May exam was concluded about a month back. AIMA has announced the MAT for September 2012. The exam, which is held in two formats, paper pencil based test, as well as computer based test, will be held in the first week of September 2012.
The paper pencil based test will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2012 and the computer based test will be held from Saturday, September 8, 2012 onwards. However, AIMA mentions, “If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test is limited and can be accommodated in a single day; the test will be completed on September 2, 2012 itself.”
Important Dates The last date for the sale of forms is Monday, August 13, 2012. The last date to submit the filled Registration forms is Thursday, August 16, 2012. The Admit Cards can be downloaded from Saturday, August 25, 2012, in the AIMA website.
Application Procedure There are two modes of application, online and offline. In the online mode, you can visit the AIMA website (www.aima-ind.org/matsept12) and register yourself. In the offline mode, you have to visit any of the Bank of Baroda branches mentioned in the AIMA website and get the application forms. The application fee is Rs. 1200.
MAT Exam Pattern The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours. There are four sections, Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment. But the scores are given on the basis of the first four sections only. The general difficulty level remains to be easy to moderate. The total marks is 800. However, the scores of the Indian and Global Environment, or the General Knowledge section is not considered by the B-schools. Generally, the cut offs of the exam ranges for 500 and more score which is 50 percentile and above.
The list of the B-schools accepting the MAT September score and the test centers would be declared in the first week of July, 2012.
