There is no magic pill to lose weight so your teen must work hard and stay dedicated for weight loss and live a healthy lifestyle. About 1/3 of all teens are overweight or obese and the statistics are steadily growing by the day. Itís not only important for teens to lose weight because of their health but for their psychological emotions and their physical appearance. More and more teenagers are being bullied and teased about their appearance so this must be changed now.

You can make it easier for your teen to lose weight if you work closely with them no matter what and be willing to teach them to practice healthy eating and exercising habits. I understand that you may be busy at work or handling business matters and donít have that much time to cook healthy or spend time with your child but you can purchase healthy food for your home for them to eat while you are not able to cook healthy every day. Exercise with them whenever you have time and pack a healthy lunch for them to take to school. You can start with a date and goal to begin your weight loss plan and document your activity each day. This will let you know what you are doing and what works. Seeing results before your eyes will keep you motivated and become a good habit for you and your teen.

You need a book that shows you the amount of calories in the food you eat and help your teen create a meal plan between 1500 to 1700 calories per day. Pick 6 small meals to eat each day because itís better to spread the meals out and keep the metabolism going throughout the day. Teach your teen that they must burn more calories than he or she takes in and walking with them for at least 30 minutes three times per week is a great start to get the weight loss plan started. Walking can be the best thing when your teen want to lose weight and adding ankle or wrist weights over a period of time will help them to burn more calories.

Start your day off right with a low-carb diet for breakfast and get that metabolism going. Breakfast is the most important meal and should not be skipped. You and your teen will lose weight naturally if you eat every three hours and boost your metabolism with foods such as whole grains, fish and foods high in protein. Water is essential when it comes to weight loss because you have to stay hydrated and you loss many nutrients when you exercise.

Once you and your teen stays on this diet and exercise plan for a while it will become second nature to them and he or she will enjoy it. They will have a positive physical image, be healthier and have a positive psychological mind state.
