Market Press Release – December 10, 2011 8:45 pm – In 2010 we saw the release of the Samsung Galaxy S, a mobile device that quickly established itself as a favourite among smartphone users everywhere. In March 2011 we saw the launch of the Galaxy S2, an updated version of the original phone that built upon the success established by its predecessor and went on to become one of the biggest selling smartphones ever released. Nine months later Samsung are ready to launch their latest flagship model, the new Galaxy Nexus. We look at the specification of this new model and see how it differs from the original Galaxy S device.

AT the time of its release the Galaxy S was the fastest mobile phone available thanks to a powerful chipset that included a 1Ghz Cortex A8 processor. This was one of the first models to ever include a processor chip over 1Ghz in size and it set a benchmark that many other manufacturers soon replicated. The new Samsung Galaxy Nexus not only offers a faster chip but also one that boasts dual cores. The 1.2Ghz Cortex A9 ensures that the new model remains one of the fastest phones available and the addition of dual core technology means that the model is also more impressive in terms of multitasking. The advantage of the processor offering two cores is that one can be dedicated to performing the task you are currently undertaking whilst the second one can keep other applications running in the background. This means that even with multiple apps running the phone still offers the fastest possible operation speeds. Internal storage capacity has also been doubled to 16GB with this new model which means the handsets is much more capable of storing multiple media files such as photographs and audio tracks. RAM memory on the new device is also doubled from 512MB to 1GB.

The original Galaxy S phone was ahead of its time with regards to camera facilities and offered a high quality 5 mega pixel camera together with a video capture feature that could record high definition footage at a resolution of 720P. The new Samsung Galaxy Nexus offers a 3 million pixel boost in resolution and also a higher standard of video capture at 1080P resolution. Additional features offered on both of the still cameras are very similar with both models offering geo tagging, touch focus and face detection to help you achieve the best possible results. The Galaxy S incorporated a screen that really was ahead of its time and one that still compares well against many newer models. The Super AMOLED display produced a high quality 480 x 800 pixel image and could display over 16 million colours. Samsung have used the same Super AMOLED technology but increased the size to 4.65 inches rather than 4 inches on the new Nexus. This really is one of the very best screens currently available and only the iPhone 4S offers a display that can rival it for image quality.

At the time of its release the Galaxy S was a model that was in a different class to its counterparts and the same can be said of the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus. A great combination of a powerful chipset, a great screen and gorgeous looks ensure that this model should prove equally as successful as both the original model and the Galaxy S2.
