Market Press Release – December 9, 2011 4:04 pm – Towards the end of 2004 we saw the release of the Motorola Razr V3. This phone was originally released as an executive model thanks to its striking looks and flip design but a drop in price saw the device flood the mass market and by 2006 Motorola had gone on to sell over 50 million units. This month we see Motorola relaunch the Razr device so we take a look at how technology has moved on since the original release.
One area where we have seen a big change is with the screen technology that is used. The Razr V3 used to offer a small display capable of displaying a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. The modern screen has seen a considerable boost in both size and resolution with the new Razr boasting a massive 4.3 inch display that offers a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The number of colours that can be displayed has also increased significantly from 256k to over 16 million. The original phone was capable of accessing the WAP mobile internet service which at the time was a really premium feature for a phone to offer. This service was accessed via a 2G network but the service was very basic and offered limited access to certain sites. The new Motorola Razr offers an internet experience similar to what you would expect from a home computer. The device can access 3G networks to give you incredibly fast mobile data transfer speeds and when at home or in the office you can connect to a WiFi network for even faster speeds.

The camera facility offered on the handsets has changed considerably over the past 6 years. The Razr V3 was one of the first models to offer a digital still camera feature. This camera was one of the main reasons behind the models success and could capture images in VGA quality which equals a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The new Motorola Razr offers a staggering resolution of 3264 x 2448 which equals a total of 8 million pixels. The camera on the original model offered no additional features unlike the new model which sports a flash, autofocus and a video capture function capable of recording 1080P high definition footage. As there was little internal storage on older phones they did not sport a 3.5mm headphone jack as the handset could not hold many audio tracks. The new Razr offers 16GB of internal memory which makes it an ideal portable audio player. A 3.5mm has been included which gives the user a choice of numerous headphones to use with the model. This is also great for watching movies when taking a flight or on the train when you do not want to disturb other passengers.
