Market Press Release – September 6, 2011 1:03 pm – Holiday Inn Cochin, the fresh destination for everyday people, today announced that on the occasion of Onam which falls on the 9th of September, its multi-cuisine restaurant 'Masala' will be serving a celebratory feast for guests. The rice harvest festival of the state of Kerala is traditionally marked with intricate floral carpets – 'Pookalam' and a vegetarian banquet lunch with over 25 different types of curries, chutneys and other dishes.
Capturing the true essence and flavours of the state, the Onam Sadhya will be an elaborate lunch meal that is prepared at the end of the 10 day festival.
In keeping with tradition, the Sadhya will be a culmination of regional dishes served on Plantain leaves and the restaurant will be decked up to suit the occasion with Thengin Pookula, Nilavelakku and Onathappan.
Mr. Sanjay Isaac Thomas, Executive Chef at Holiday Inn Cochin said, "Kitchen preparations for the Onam Sadhya began a couple of weeks ago and we have been careful to bring variety to the lunch while also being able to serve our guests with authentic Kerala dishes. Onam being one of the main festivals here in Kerala, we will be looking to really bring alive the experience of the feast for our guests."
