PISCATAWAY, N.J., Mar. 5nd, 2009 - International contract research organization GenScript Corporation has developed two recombinant protein expression technologies that can provide high levels of both protein expression and purity. To date, BacuVanceTM and YeastHIGHTM both show success rates of over 90%.
The BacuVanceTM protein expression system employs insect cells infected by a high-titer recombinant baculovirus. BacuVanceTM can fill orders of up to gram quantities of highly purified protein. The system's emphasis is on protein functionality, particularly with regard to eukaryotic proteins. Like most GenScript services, BacuVanceTM can be tailored to each project's specific needs. In this case, GenScript offers a selection of different insect cell types for fine-tuned insect expression environment. In addition, clients can order transformed high-titer, baculovirus directly, delivered ready-to-use to produce proteins.
YeastHIGHTM is a yeast protein expression system producing proteins via high expression levels of genes of interest by selecting desired yeast transformants. The system uses durable, stable yeast strains whose protein processing resembles that of mammalian cells. This system has a very high yield and a capacity of up to 500L.
GenScript implements pre-project codon optimization and rare codon analysis for different insect cell lines and yeast strains. Both technologies give the client a number of options with regard to the initial input: full-length cDNA, EST sequence information, and genomic sequences. If genomic sequences are provided, the project implements GenScript mature gene synthesis platform.
Both YeastHIGHTM and BacuVanceTM link to many downstream applications, including eukaryotic protein analysis, NMR studies on isotope-labeled proteins, assay screening, structural biology studies, animal feed production, and environmental engineering.
