Market Press Release – September 3, 2010 3:39 am – Dynamsoft today announced the release of Dynamic Web TWAIN 6.1, a web scanning solution specifically optimized for web applications. The product comes in two editions: ActiveX and Plug-in. The former is designed for use in IE 6, IE 7 and 8, while the latter is for Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, Netscape, etc.
Dynamic Web TWAIN allows users to scan files from any TWAIN compatible devices, such as scanners and cameras, and edit images in the control. HTTP(s) upload/download to file system and databases is supported as well as FTP(s).
Since the debut release, Dynamic Web TWAIN has saved numerous time and energy for many developers on building a small yet powerful scanning module. Up to now, it has been deployed on tens of thousands of web servers. "A great component for scanner enabling a web based application. Easy, customizable, reliable. With the new version, SSL Certificate binding is supported which relieves the Plug-in Edition users from having to select the certificate over and over again during HTTPS upload. Meanwhile, on top of Anonymous and Windows Authentication modes, the new release also supports Forms Authentication. Furthermore, session/cookie support is introduced into the Plug-in Edition, so that Dynamic Web TWAIN works seamlessly in web applications which use session/cookie to store local user data.
For a client side user, the typical way to use Dynamic Web TWAIN is like this: At the first time when he visits a webpage containing the TWAIN control, a dialog pops up allowing him to install the TWAIN plug-in onto his local. After installation, he can use Dynamic Web TWAIN to control his scanner and perform scanning, editing, uploading, etc from within the webpage. With the latest release, the installation process in Chrome, Safari and Opera is further simplified. It is now quite straightforward for the client side users.
