Saskatchewan residents have two passions, says board game creator Wayne Tardif, talking Roughrider football and playing crib. Tardif goes on to say it just seemed like the right thing to combine those two passions, so he created [Roughrider Cribbage The Board Game](https://cribbagetheboardgame.com/products/roughrider-cribbage-the-board-game). The over-all board game design and the playing rules was adopted from a previous creation by Tardif and his lifelong friend Myles Warken. Several years earlier the two Saskatchewan natives developed Cribbage The Board Game, an innovative tabletop version of the classic card game of Cribbage. That original, classic game of Cribbage first appeared in the early 1600s as the brainchild of Sir John Suckling, an English poet.
After selling thousands of Cribbage The Board Game and getting loads of positive feedback from happy customers Tardif new their game board concept was perfectly suited for a Roughrider edition. Although Sucklings version of the game is still going strong after almost four centuries Roughrider Cribbage The Board Game has a much shorter production life span. The final edition of the board game was limited to a mere 500 copies and no further production will ever take place. Tardif laments, its sad this great edition wouldnt have a long standing production run but on the other hand exciting for fans and collectors because of the limited number of copies. He explains how the game board plays out a lot like how a football game plays out. There are two opponents and two fundamental strategies to execute, an offensive strategy and a defensive strategy. Just as every play on the football field has an offensive and a defensive result so too does every card played on the Roughrider Cribbage The Board Game.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are kinda the darling team in the Canadian Football League and their fans love Roughrider merchandise, says the game creator.
