Market Press Release – September 6, 2010 6:57 pm – A replacement for Chemcrest Moldings, Millwork and Architectural Products

The US and Canadian molding and millwork community is a buzz with the news that Chemcrest Architectural Products has closed it’s doors after many years of supplying North American markets with their manufactured polyurethane millwork and crown moldings.

While no one is quite sure at this time if Chemcrest is bankrupt or simply insolvent, It seems for the time being that they will not be returning; and there is a growing consensus over the many reasons that they will be missed.

“As Molding manufacturers ourselves and now crown molding and millwork importers to Canada and the United States, we have always known Chemcrest as worthy competition. At building materials trade shows or upon chance meetings”, says Crown-molding.com president Rick Hemsworth. “they were always pleasant and forthcoming; truly first rate business people and top quality producers. While those of us in the industry may benefit from Chemcrest closing down, it is not without acknowledging the companies contributions to the molding and millwork business over the years.”

“We acknowledge the passing of this fine company with a degree of disappointment and wish all of those formerly employed by Chemcrest, all the very best in their future endeavors.”

Such is the news from California to New Jersey and Florida to Pennsylvania; in Canada or the United States, if someone is wanting to source out polyurethane crown molding and millwork from an alternative source to Chemcrest, the list is growing smaller by the decade. This recent recession has known many a locked door and unanswered email.

According to it’s staff an owner, www.crown-molding.com has been inundated recently with questions and requests to find like-Chemcrest products to fill customer orders.

In answer to these quandaries, they recommend replacing Chemcrest manufactured products with those of Fypon Moldings and Millwork. While Chemcrest may have introduced new techniques and products to the marketplace over the years, many of these practices where duplication of those already tried and tested by one of the oldest polyurethane molding companies in America; Fypon.

When Fypon Moldings and Millwork and Style Solutions came together, this joining of American molding companies marked the beginning of a new era for US polyurethane molding manufacturing. With deep roots in the Theme Park Industries, Vegas and Atlantic City, Canadian based Chemcrest Architectural Products has done well by these growing arenas of business; however, with Chemcrest now out of business, there is an opportunity for US manufacturers to gain further from the standing that they have continued to maintain for so many years.

Fypon moldings maintains a generous catalog of contractor length crown molding, ceiling medallions, corbels and architectural details, with a molding design shop ready to create custom profiles in numerous molding sizes and shapes. Their new line of column wraps and extruded PVC is comparable if not better than the majority that we have seen.

www.Crown-Molding.com has been a Fypon Molding Distributor for some time now; but with Chemcrest now out of the picture, they are moving from a partial offering of Fypon products to more of a complete catalog; catering more to the contractor or home owner that recognizes the savings afforded with longer length 12, 15 and 16 foot crown molding and casing profiles.

If you can’t find the Fypon product that you are looking for, feel free to contact crown-molding.com directly. They would be pleased to source out your requirements whether it be a product like that of Chemcrest millwork or a Fypon exclusive molding item.

If you found this article by asking “What happened to Chemcrest”, then you are in luck. The folks at Crown-molding.com look forward to working with you.
