On April 10, 2018, APMEX.com participated in the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma's 31st annual Chefs' Feast. The event showcased 21 of the best chefs and restaurants around the Oklahoma City metro and raised more than $155,000 for the Regional Food Bank's Food for Kids programs.
The four Food for Kids Programs offer support for children in Oklahoma who suffer from food insecurity. The Backpack Program gives children a backpack full of non-perishable, nutritious food on Friday to help sustain them for the weekends and school breaks. The School Pantry Program offers middle and high-school-aged kids food to help feed them over the weekend. Summer Feeding gives free breakfast and lunch to those who cannot afford it during the non-schooling months of the year. The Kids Cafe offer tutoring and other activities as well as snacks for school age kids.
"The Regional Food Bank is so very grateful for the commitment and support it receives from APMEX.com,” Regional Food Bank Chief Executive Officer Katie Fitzgerald said. “No child should live with hunger and it's thanks to great corporate citizens like APMEX.com that the Regional Food Bank is able to make a difference."
APMEX Founder and President Scott Thomas grew up knowing hunger and it is from those humble beginnings where APMEX's passion to help others with the same need began. The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is the perfect partner for APMEX to help those in need. For these reasons, APMEX adopted the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma as its primary charity and is dedicated to "Fighting Hunger - Feeding Hope."
"It truly is an honor to work with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma," Thomas said. "From the donations received from the Chefs' Feast event, a total of 1,550 children will be fed for a year through the Food for Kids programs. It is such a blessing to be able to help those with food insecurity - especially the Oklahoma youth. We at APMEX could not be more proud to partner with the Food Bank."
