In this article I will take a closer look at a couple of the key features of this handset so you can decide if it is the right choice for you.
Aesthetics
In my opinion, this is one of the best looking Android smartphones available. A massive part of its aesthetic appeal is its slim profile; at just 8.7mm it is one of the thinnest smartphone available. The handset is finished in black, with silver detailing on the shortcut buttons beneath the screen and volume rocker on the side.
Screen
Although it may not be up to the standards set by the likes of the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc offers a good screen resolution of 480x 854, which is actually slightly above the average 480x 800 found on most mid range smartphones. The screen is very capable of displaying multimedia, be it videos, photos, games or web pages. At 4.2 inches, the resolution is adequate enough to maintain its integrity even when viewing multimedia on full screen mode. The display quality is also backed up by the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine. This calls upon Sony’s expertise in the television manufacturing industry, so the handset really excels at playing video footage.

Camera
As a camera phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is well equipped to take good quality photos as well as high definition video footage. Still images are captured by the 8 megapixel camera in a resolution of up to 3264x 2448. The high pixel resolution ensures great quality still images are produced, with high levels of detail and clarity. Features such as autofocus, LED flash, image stabilisation and face & smile detection are all included to take the hassle out of producing good quality results. The camera can also be used for shooting video footage in resolutions of up to 720p (high definition). When you have used the camera for either photos or videos, you can then upload your handiwork straight to Facebook or Twitter thanks to the handset’s comprehensive social networking integration. DLNA connectivity is also included, allowing you to wirelessly stream content from your phone to a compatible TV.
As you can see, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc excels at multimedia use. The screen and the camera are good examples of this. There is obviously lot more to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc than just its multimedia features, but as you can see, it makes a great alternative to the popular HTC and Apple smartphones which are currently proving so popular.
