Market Press Release – January 6, 2012 2:44 pm – The popular HTC Sensation has recently seen a couple of upgraded versions released, the Sensation XE and XL. In this article I will take a look at some of the key features of the HTC Sensation XE.
The HTC Sensation XE looks almost identical to the original Sensation. Aesthetically the only changes are the red detailing in parts of the phone such as the speaker grill and camera surround, and the capacitive Android shortcut keys now have an attractive red illumination rather than the standard white. There is also red beats audio branding on the back of the handset, which brings me to one of the more important features of this device.
The renowned “Beats by Dr Dre” audio technology has been incorporated into the handset (in fact HTC has bought Beats Audio for a rumoured $300 million so we can expect to see Beats in many new HTC models), meaning higher sound quality than just about any other phone out there. As an added bonus, you also get a pair of Beats headphones included with the handset. These are quickly becoming the headphones to be seen with, replacing the iconic white Apple headphones.
The HTC Sensation XE has many other impressive features as found on the original. It has the same 8 megapixel camera, which comes with image stabilisation, face detection, instant capture, and 1080p full HD video recording.

Also, there is the same high resolution (540x 960) S-LCD capacitive touchscreen, which is bright, clear and responsive. It may not have the resolution of the iPhone 4S or Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but it still provides fantastic display quality.
Internet browsing is a strength of the Sensation XE, data download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps possible with a 3G connection, as well as the option to use Wi-Fi to connect to the net. The HTC Sense UI provides the default web browser, and there are several more alternatives available from Android Market, along with hundreds of thousands of other apps from numerous categories.
Hardware wise, the processor has arguably seen the biggest overhaul. The original Sensation has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor which provides outstanding performance, but with this XE version, a whopping 1.5 GHz dual-core processor is provided, making this the most powerful smartphone in the world in terms of processing power.
