It has an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture, Android v2.3 OS, and a superb S-AMOLED touchscreen. In this article though, I will look at how the handset performs as a web browsing device.
As one of the most important smartphone features for many users, it was crucial that Samsung nailed this feature with the follow up to the original Samsung Galaxy S. It appears that they have done a good job. Using the internet requires a data connection, and the Samsung Galaxy S2 calls upon 3G coverage by virtue of an HSDPA connection. The speeds provided by this connection are the fastest currently available for a smartphone (21 megabytes per second), so users can expect fast loading times of websites and instantaneous buffering of YouTube videos when using this connection. Aside from the 3G connection, there is of course also Wi-Fi connectivity included, which has several advantages over 3G. For starters it provides an even faster connection, it uses less battery, and it does not use up your data allowance when you are browsing the internet. Therefore, I recommend doing the bulk of your mobile browsing over a Wi-Fi network whenever possible.

Now that we have looked at the connectivity options of the Samsung Galaxy S2, I will look at the web browsing software itself. To open the internet, simply tap the browser app on the screen, and the app will open and automatically load either your homepage or the last visited page depending on the time that has elapsed since you last used the net. To visit a website, simply tap the address bar, enter the website address on the on screen QWERTY keyboard and press go. The page will then load quickly. Thanks to the powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core processor inside the Samsung Galaxy S2, the interface is very responsive when scrolling, or using the pinch to zoom facility. The browser supports flash, meaning that embedded content such as games, videos and even flash banner ads will be displayed in the same manner as on a normal computer. If you are playing an embedded video, you can even simultaneously zoom into other areas of the site without the video stopping. Many of the features found on rival handsets like the iPhone 4S and HTC Sensation XE are included within the browser such as the ability to set a list of favourite pages which can be opened with a single touch of the screen, as well as tabbed browsing which means you can have more than one website open at the same time and simply select between them as needed. Being an Android powered device, you can choose to download an alternative browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Opera Mini using Android Market.
