Akshay has studied at JD Institute of Fashion Technology from Delhi, and completed his comprehensive diploma as Graduate Jewelry Designer, and also won the award for most outstanding and creative collection of the year 2008 under theme “OUT OF FASHION”. Akshay Mehra creates world class jewelry with an universal appeal by getting inspired by various cultures be it of lifestyle or music from around the world, fusing them together and then giving them an Indian touch. At the university, he acquired the necessary training and expertise to become a professionally trained Jewelry Designer and has also participated in many design competitions from around the world.
“TURNTABLISM”, the collection is dedicated to the ongoing trends and styles in music and djing culture. The collection had to go and act beyond the principles and ethics of designing and creativity and something experimental. A concept which was meant to create ambience even in extreme darkness by highlighting all important elements by using flexible neon lights. The motive is if there is beautiful woman who is a dj, what will be the kind of jewelry piece she would like to carry with her always wherever she goes to be it any party or occasion.
