Market Press Release – January 11, 2012 5:16 pm – The new HTC Sensation XL builds on the winning formula of the popular original version. The XL offers an alternative to those who are looking for a stylish smartphone, which is particularly suited to music and multimedia use. In this article, I will provide an overview of its key features.
Aesthetics The HTC Sensation XL is noticeably different in appearance from the original version. For starters, the handset is finished in an attractive which colour scheme. This makes it a particularly head-turning device, which is ideal if you are one of the large number of style conscious users who also views their phone as a fashion statement. Also, the handset is somewhat larger, in order to accommodate the bigger screen. The S-LCD capacitive screen measures up at 4.7 inches, meaning it really lends itself to multimedia use like gaming or viewing photos and videos.
Beats Audio Probably the most publicised feature of the HTC Sensation XL is the Beats Audio by Dr Dre. This music technology provides enhanced sound quality which is beyond that provided by almost all other handsets. As an added bonus, there is also a Beats headset provided with the phone. These are fast replacing the iconic which Apple headsets as the headphones to be seen with. Combined with an ample 16 GB of internal storage and the HTC Sense music widget, the HTC Sensation XL is arguably the ultimate music phone. Of course, this saves the need to carry a separate MP3 player.

Internet Browsing The HTC Sensation XL is well equipped to browse the internet thanks to connection provided by both 3G and Wi-Fi. The latter provides the fastest connection and has the added bonuses of less battery consumption and it does not use up your data allowance. When Wi-Fi networks are not available, the handset calls upon its 3G connection, where speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps are available, meaning that web pages load quickly and YouTube videos stream with very little lag when buffering.
Camera The HTC Sensation XL has an 8 megapixel camera which is on hand not only to produce high quality still images, but also video footage in high definition (720p). The camera comes with all the extras you would expect from a high end smartphone. These include autofocus, LED flash, face detection and touch focus.
The operating system of choice is Android Gingerbread (although it will also support the new Ice Cream Sandwich version), and it runs the useful HTC Sense UI over the top. This is the manufacturer’s custom Android interface which is highly customisable with the ability to assign various apps and widgets to up seven homescreens.
The HTC Sensation XL is available now on various UK networks, several of which are offering the handset for free on selected tariffs.
