In this article I will take a look at the key features of the latter, and the user experience it provides.
Featuring a sizeable 4 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, the Nokia X7 makes a great multimedia device, displaying photos and videos as well as games and web sites in the utmost quality and clarity. This is thanks to a resolution of 360x 640 which can display up to 16M different colours so the levels of detail and colour rendering are superb. The screen also comes with an accelerometer sensor which automatically rotates the contents of the screen based on the orientation which the phone is held. Also, an added bonus is the fact that the screen is manufactured from gorilla glass, which is scratch resistant so if you occasionally drop your phone this could be the perfect handset.

The Nokia X7 has impressive sound playback capabilities. The corners of the handset feature a “grill” which hides the stereo speakers. The handset supports plenty of music file formats; MP3, WMA, WAV and eAAC+ all being accommodated. Users can also select WAV and MP3 tracks to utilise as their ringtone. In order to store files such as music tracks, videos, games, apps and photos, there is an 8 GB memory card included with the handset. This can however be replaced with a card of up to 32 GB, so the phone can potentially store thousands of music tracks, photos and other files.
The Nokia X7 is of course a competent cameraphone, boasting an 8 megapixel unit which operates at a resolution of 3264x 2448 resulting in very high quality still images. Several features are included to simplify the task of taking quality photos; face detection, fixed focus and a dual-LED flash are all supplied as standard as well as the geo-tagging function which utilises the GPS capabilities of the phone by recording the location at which the camera was used, allowing users to then browse their photos by location. The camera can also shoot video footage in HD at 720p quality.
Browsing the web is an important part of smartphone ownership, and the Nokia X7 is perfectly equipped to carry out this task. Download speeds of up 10.2 Mbps are available ensuring web pages load quickly, and data is streamed at a decent rate. Users can of course also use the phone for Wi-Fi internet browsing be it in the home, office or public location.
The Symbian Anna OS makes an appearance as the operating system of choice, and this runs alongside a 680 MHz processor which ensures the interface runs smoothly and applications load and operate quickly.
Whilst it may not have any groundbreaking features, the Nokia X7 offers a great alternative to mainstream handsets, offering decent technology and stylish aesthetics. It is currently available on SIM free deals in the UK, with more networks offering contracts shortly.
