Camera
Arguably the most exciting feature of this phone is the built in digital camera. Most new smartphone have a camera of 5 or 8 megapixels, however the Sony Xperia S blows these out of the water with its impressive 12 megapixel unit which operates at a pixel resolution of 4000x 3000. As you may expect, this is capable of producing top notch image quality which is enhanced further by touch focus, face & smile detection, image stabilisation, autofocus and LED flash among other image enhancing features. Another impressive feature of the camera is its ability to capture 3D sweep panoramic shots. Also, a smartphone would not be a smartphone these days if it did not have the ability to capture video footage. As you may expect, the Sony Xperia S boasts the ability to capture video in 1080p which is full HD (high definition). Once you have used the camera to take a photo or shoot a video you have a couple of options about what to do with the file. You can use the handset’s DLNA connectivity to wirelessly stream it to a compatible TV to enjoy your handiwork on the big screen, or you can instantly upload it to a social networking site like FaceBook or Twitter.
Touchscreen
The Sony Xperia S comes with a very high resolution LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen. The resolution stands at 720x 1280, so it is one of the few smartphones which can claim to outdo the likes of the retina display found on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. This is called a retina display because the human eye cannot distinguish between individual pixels. Therefore, the on screen content is displayed in super high quality with great levels of detail and clarity. The LED-backlit LCD technology means that all 16 million of the screen’s displayable colours are bright and sharp, with black appearing deep and whites are bright and true.
