Market Press Release – November 21, 2011 10:25 am – The recently released Blackberry Bold 9900 offers some big improvements over earlier models in the Bold range. One of the most impressive areas of this phone is its excellent internet capabilities which we will look at in a little more detail here.
Many consumers may be sceptical about web browsing on this phone because of it small display but despite this it is one of the more well equipped devices currently available. The first thing you notice when surfing the web is just how fast the browser is with sites loading almost instantly with minimal delay. Thanks to the phones touchscreen users have the option of navigating either via the screen or with the famous optical trackpad that is situated between the display and the Qwerty keypad. When using the screen multi touch is supported enabling it to register more than a single touch at any one time. This allows great features such as pinch to zoom to be incorporated and this really does prove a much more effective method of zooming than the alternative double tap system. Should you opt to navigate via the trackpad a pointer appears on screen and when you reach the edges of the page the display automatically scrolls.

The new Blackberry Bold 9900 supports tabbed browsing as part of the new Blackberry OS that is uses. Tabbed browsing enables the user to have multiple web pages open at the same time and easily switch between them. Previously if you clicked on a link featured on a website it would load in place of the site you were currently viewing. Now a new tab opens displaying the link you wanted to read and then you can easily switch back to the original page. The only thing we could find that is missing from this excellent package is Flash support which means that you cannot view material within a site that is in Flash format. This will not make a difference to text or pictures but may provide problems when viewing certain video files. A host of connectivity options are available on the 9900 that enable a great connection to be achieved almost anywhere. Whilst you are on the move the phone can connect to a 3G network if coverage is available and there are alternatives on hand in the form of GPRS and EDGE. The best data transfer speeds however will be achieved when you use the models Wireless LAN facilities to connect to a WiFi network.
