Market Press Release – February 16, 2012 10:27 am – The Samsung Galaxy S2 was the biggest selling handset of 2011 and the model is continuing to sell well as we move through 2012. With many manufacturers such as Apple and Sony launching new handsets over the coming months Samsung are rumoured to be releasing the Galaxy S3, the successor to the famous S2. We take a look at the specification that we are likely to see included on this exciting new model.
Despite the manufacturer revealing that they will not be unveiling the new Samsung Galaxy 3 at the 2012 Mobile World Congress it is still anticipated that the model will be launched in the first half of this year. When the S2 was released its 8.5mm depth made the phone the slimmest available at the time. Since then numerous other devices have matched this measurement so Samsung are aiming make this new model measure around 7mm in depth. This would make the model the slimmest phone currently available. One reason why the model will sport such a slim profile is because it is set to use the second generation of the Gorilla Glass. This material was used on the Galaxy S2 but the newer version is approximately half the thickness which will help the manufacturers reduces the overall depth of the model. The screen itself will probably measure 4.65 inches and sport the very latest Super AMOLED Plus technology to enable it to produce stunning picture quality and improved viewing angles. We expect the model to rival the iPhone 4S for pixel density which would mean that the display would have to sport a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Some reports suggest that Samsung may opt for a 2Ghz dual core chip but with other brands set to launch quad core devices Samsung will be eager to match what their rivals are offering. If a quad core chip is included then the speed is likely to be somewhere between 1.5Ghz and 1.8Ghz. To accompany this processor a large RAM memory of around 2GB will ensure that the device operates at great speed and also mean that it is ready for any future software developments. Being a premium handset there are likely to be a least two versions of this phone released. The basic model will offer 16GB of storage capacity while the more expensive version will include 32GB. Samsung may also choose to match the iPhone 4S and release a third model sporting a massive 64GB of storage space.
The official specification of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has not been revealed yet but the model looks very likely to include many of the features we have mentioned. Whatever the final specification is we can be sure that the phone will prove a huge success with consumers everywhere.
