From November 15 through January 15, all donations were matched up to $600,000 by Regional Food Bank partners, including APMEX.com. Through the incredible generosity of our neighbors, they were able to raised more than 14 million meals for hungry Oklahomans this winter.
"It is truly remarkable to see Oklahomans come together to help raise funds for the Food Bank's Holiday Match Campaign and the 2018 campaign was another big success," APMEX President Scott Thomas said. "Our community really stepped up and made a difference for thousands of Oklahomans who struggle with food insecurity. However, the need continues year-round and I hope this success encourages more of us to donate and volunteer because our efforts do make an impact."
Service is a core value at APMEX, but it's not just something that is said, it's something that is practiced every day. Thomas grew up knowing hunger and it is from those beginnings where APMEX's passion to help others with the same need began. The Regional Food Bank is the perfect partner for APMEX to help those in need of food assistance. For these reasons, APMEX adopted the Regional Food Bank as their primary charity and they have been honored to be a sponsor of the Holiday Match Campaign for the third year in a row.
"We are grateful for APMEX's continued support and commitment to end hunger in Oklahoma," said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. "Food has the power to transform lives. Donations raised through the Holiday Match campaign give our neighbors the food they need to thrive. You may never see their faces or hear their voices, but I can assure you that your support makes all the difference."
Oklahoma continues to be one of the hungriest states in the nation. In 2018, the Regional Food Bank was able to provide more than 41.6 million meals to hungry Oklahomans but the need for assistance continues to grow.
